Friday was a Rarely Perfect Day

2007-04-28 at 11:31 a.m.

Yesterday was a really good day.

I slept through my alarm somehow and woke up at 11. (Most good days start off with lots of sleep.) I got up, cleaned myself up, and went to work.

At work, I had meetings with 3 different people. The director of the GDPE program needed my web expertise, then I spent some time in the Math Department. Their website is ALMOST done. It will be published very, very soon.

After work, I went to my Chinese teacher's house for 2 hours for a big dinner party. Her husband brews his own beer; it was absolutely delicious! Man! Some of the best beer I've ever had without a doubt. She made a ton of authentic Chinese food, we all enjoyed the food, sang Chinese karaoke (man, that song is ridiculous! hahaha check it out:
Funny Chinese Movie
. It's a song that celebrates friendship pretty highly - in America, we'd probably label it as homoerotic and ruin the guy's career, us males aren't very allowed to express our appreciation for our male friends without being either sexist or closet-homosexual! :( Chad, I love you man! ;) Hahaha... Paul Brofskofski...

(Loving Chad doesn't imply I would play rugby in the rain with him... mostly because neither of us play rugby!) When he says "ee bay jeeyo" ... that means one glass of alcohol! Yep, they seal their friendship by getting drunk. Sweeet. I respect that in a culture.

OK, enough side-tracking. After the Chinese party, I came home for about an hour. Dan called me up and we went over to Which Wich for dinner. Then we ended up at the Wired Bean coffee shop where our friend Danielle works. She needed some help changing light bulbs, so I ventured up the ladder and changed a bunch of light bulbs in this coffee shop. They closed at 10, then we sat there hanging out until after midnight. Great times!

I got home around 12:30. I played Counterstrike for about 5 minutes when Kirsten called. (She's the cutie redhead who gave me that famous hug a few weeks ago!) Anyway, she broke up with her boyfriend and wanted to come over to smoke a hookah. She got here around 12:45, we spent about 2 hours smoking a hookah, then we watched Spaceballs and Billy Madison. She fell asleep on my lap for an hour or so, then she got up at 5:30 and headed out to drive to Denver to see her parents this morning. (Sometime during the night she decided she wanted to pull an all-nighter.)

I got to bed around 6:00 a.m. I just barely woke up, and I'm still kind of tired... buuut yesterday was a truly great day! I had to document it.

I feel weird hanging around Kirsten. She definitely cuddled up right next to me and I was getting some signals to make a move ... buut I just didn't! I mean, I was happily content with her head on my lap falling asleep while I had my left arm kind of wrapped around her to keep her warm. (Don't get me wrong, it was totally awesome by any measure.) I just didn't feel the need to squeeze a boob or sneak a kiss (I mean when she was still awake! haha I just realized that sounds like I wanted to fondle a sleeping girl... NOT what I'm trying to describe here!) I just mean that any amorous advances on my part probably would have been welcomed by the other party in attendance last night - and either I lost my testicles somewhere at the coffee shop or I finally have the will-power to keep myself from going for every hot, smart, fun girl who comes over to my house at midnight and falls asleep on my lap. *sigh* :)

Great end to a great night!

Oh, then I had a dream that I met my crazy Grandma T and I explained a whole bunch of stuff to her about what I did during the last few years. My parents moved in with her for a few months after they sold their Diamond house (biggest mistake ever), annnd they quickly learned that my crazy grandma is abusive, manipulating, mean, and completely irrational. GEE, who'd have thunk somebody born and raised in the Mormon church could reach 70 and be emotionally unstable?! I certainly didn't see that one coming. (Fast forward to my diary in 30 years: "Gee, my Mom sure is completely irrational, she drives me crazy!")

SARAH P IS COMING to visit me!! Around May 15-19. That's just a few weeks away! Ohh man. How I love my Sarah P. Not quite romantic love, really ... (although she's pretty smokin' hot and I'd not think twice about doing things to her that would embarrass Larry Flint himself!), but Sarah P. is definitely a person who I know I'll keep in touch with until the day one of us dies. Very few friends I have meet those standards! John, Chad, Sarah P., and Dan. (And obviously members of my fam.)

I use way too many ellipses and I caps-lock things for emphasis - I think I picked those habits up from Boxx. Thanks a lot, Boxx, for invalidating my 5-year degree in English writing. :-P :) (I'm going post-card shopping for my California friend today!)

Did I already include my requisite "I'm excited for China" paragraph in this entry yet?? Let me fulfill that clause really quick: "Goddamn I'm excited to move to China!" Bingo.
