The Lucky Tie

Not a bad day at all!

I worked from 8-12 today because they had an office birthday party for me. I got a sweet little card where everybody wrote their cliché, impersonal birthday greetings... "have a great one" and "who said you could get older" etc. Buuut I appreciated it.

Work went well, I just had a few small projects / questions to answer for random people. Jim was out of the office today, so I was chilling in the basement by myself, jamming out to Radiohead.

I came home and played on yet another mac computer that the College lent me. They still think that if they lend me mac laptops, I'll start recommending macs for all of our labs. I don't mind using the laptop, but why would I go buy a bunch of fucking Apple desktops just because they give me a macbook?! They're two completely different computers. If they want to impress me, they should:

1) Give me a mac desktop,
2) Make third party software compatible with a Mac, and
3) Stop using racist and stereotypical advertising on their commercials. "Hi, I'm a mac..." "Hi, I'm a stereotype."

Ok, enough Apple-bashing. Steve Jobs announced the Apple phone today and I was thoroughly impressed. It's about time somebody caught cell phones up to modern technology... they've been marketing to prepubescent girls for far too long now.

I made a giant plate of szechuan chicken and fried rice for dinner. I was planning on making leftovers for lunch tomorrow, but I ate it all.

I watched "Not Another Teen Movie" tonight. It's just a satire of all the stupid teen movies. It made me laugh pretty hard a few times, but not nearly enough to be worth an hour and a half of my time.

I cleaned and played TA with Dan. He beat me 3 times in a row, only one of which that was a legitimate "beating". The others were just him sending his commander to my side of the map and tromping all over my stuff. I hate that!

My big official Kim date is tomorrow night. It looks like we're going to have a light dinner before going to the company party. I haven't made a light dinner for a long time! What's a light dinner??

Anyway, I'm pretty excited for it. Our office parties are always about 15 people big, and we just sit around, have a few beers, and chat about the weather. This one sounds like it's going to be a pretty big ordeal!

I've decided: dark green pants, white shirt, orange plaid tie. I love my orange plaid tie. Talk about a lucky tie! It's been with me through a lot ... I was even wearing it when that Brazil thing happened! And on the jet home, and to my job interview when I got hired, and ... good things just happen when I wear that tie!

Ok, gotta sleep... look how good I'm getting at updating with my newfound free time! Being a college alumni is awesome.

P.S. Holy cow, Nev got engaged!! I don't have any details yet, though. Damn girl needs to call me or something! (Nev if you read this, call me you bastard!)
